Sonia - Owner/ head teacher
My philosophy as a teacher is that children (just like us grown ups) need and deserve to feel cared for, loved and as though they have a lot to offer - which, of course, they do! My expertise is in being able to help students feel just that!
Learning can only begin when a child feels safe and understood, and I am passionate about finding what makes each individual child feel both of these in my classroom. I have been involved in coaching, tutoring and teaching in some form for over 40 years. I have had a lot of experience working with children in a variety of settings, with a special interest in those who have ASD, and particularly with a PDA profile. Being neurodivergent myself, I understand the complexities and requirements of students who present in this way.
My students find my 'dad' jokes to be groanworthy, my outlook to be positive and my personality to be outgoing and friendly.
One student's thoughts "You are such an amazing teacher! You always encourage us and you always spread positive vibes! You're always here to help and support us when we are feeling down. You're a very bubbly, funny, kindhearted person. I'll miss you when I am in high school. Thank you for everything!"
